I am feeling extremely grateful as I announce the release of my new music video for "Remember Who You Are." I hope you take a second to check it out.
Jeremy Truong deserves a huge shout out- I could not ask for a better director or better friend thank you for your Skype calls from California, late nights of editing, city trekking through the rain for feathers, sense of humor, patience, support, and love (this guy is my right hand man in all music endeavors).
Thank you Robert Edenburn Newman our director of photography for your amazing eye and also for sacrificing your back in order to capture some breathtaking steadicam footage.
Thank you Wenjie Kong and Benjamin Yap ! Assistant camera plus much more! This thing was shaped by your impeccable input!
Allegra Preuss is our beautiful dancer featured from 1:22 - 2:11. You take our breath away and are a joy and honor to work with. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Thank you crowdfunders who helped get this project off the ground! I feel truly lucky to have so many people backing me.
"Remember Who You Are" is track three off of the album I released this past November titled Peripeteia. This song was actually written over three years ago. It's amazing to me that as time goes on and I acquire new experiences and perspective my understanding and interpretation of my own compositions often change. I hope as you watch and listen you can derive your own meaning from the lyrics, music, and visual. A lot of songs are about love, and I get it, because love is what keeps the world spinning ((figuratively) my science-obsessed brother would have a sassy objection). But there's another very important relationship that deserves to be voiced (and ought to fall under the category of love!) and that's the relationship you have with yourself. The relationship you have with yourself is the important foundation you need in order for the relationships you have with others and the world around you to flourish. As my understanding of the world has expanded and grown more nuanced it has challenged my understanding and conception of self. Growth is not always smooth, it's funky and complicated. Your core is a constant variable as the chemistry of life changes, and I have realized more and more how key it is to remember this while working towards solutions. At this very moment, for me, this song is about being in touch with yourself, taking care of yourself, and giving that best self to others.
Here you go all!
